Explore West Maui in All of Its Grand Splendor

West Maui, which consists of the towns Honokowai, Lahaina, Ka'anapali, Kahana, Kapalua and Napili, is a popular destination for travel. Here you will find luxurious resorts, delicious restaurants, an abundance of shopping and natural beauty as far as the eye can see. There are also a variety of exciting activities you won’t want to miss during your stay. Here are five of the "must do’s" in West Maui.

1. Head to Kaanapali Beach

Kaanapali Beach, with 3 miles of beautiful, soft, white sand and crystal clear water, is the most popular beach of West Maui. While perfect for water activities like snorkeling and swimming, this beach is also known for its daily cliff diving ceremony held at sunset. During this show, the torches along the cliff known as Black Rock are lit by a cliff diver who then dives off. This ceremony is a reenactment of a triumph by King Kahekili, a former king of Maui.

2. Get a Bird's-Eye View of the Island

Maverick Helicopters offers the Maui Dream tour, allowing you to see West Maui and the rest of the island from a new perspective. During this helicopter tour, which lasts approximately an hour and 10 minutes, you’ll see the spectacular West Maui Volcano, amazing views of the coastline, jagged sea cliffs and vibrant, lush vegetation. You can also see Iao Valley State Park, Haleakala National Park and much more during this once-in-a-lifetime experience.

3. Go Whale Watching

If you’ll be visiting West Maui November through May, don't miss seeing the amazing creatures on a whale watching tour. Be astounded by North Pacific Humpback Whales as they jump into the air, slap their tales on the surface and spout water.

4. See a Show in West Maui

The Maui Theatre Lahaina is sure to bring you the ultimate in entertainment. An extremely popular show, Burn' n Love, includes an Elvis impersonator and captures the time this rock icon spent in Hawaii. Another hit show is 'Ulalena, which brings you authentic Hawaiian dances, music and an impressive selection of more than 100 instruments played live during the show.
